Education in East Africa

The earliest schools in east Africa were built in the 19th century by European missionaries but the number of schools has not kept pace with the high population growth.
Demand for education is highly competitive which means that many children are left out.

• Composition – 10-20% SOS children and 80-90% community children

Curriculum

Local National Curriculum of the Republic of Uganda offered. Curriculum offers 7 years of basic education, 4 years of lower secondary education (O-level), 2 years of higher secondary education (A-level) and 3 years and above of tertiary education.

The Ministry of Education and Sports coordinates the education function in the country.
